The following is being distributed at the request of the Provincial College:

First-year university at college sites for 1997-98

The Board of Governors of the Provincial College has determined that the expanded transfer year ensuring a full year of transfer credit of college courses to the university and other post-secondary institutions, will not be ready for full implementation until September 1998.

The board has decided that for the 1997-98 academic year, the college will extend the temporary arrangement for first-year university courses at Grand Falls-Windsor, Burin and Carbonear, subject to the requirement of cost recovery at these sites. Cost recovery will require a minimum enrolment of 100 students at each site and an additional charge of $350 per student per semester.

The college will maintain the first-year university program in Labrador City under the arrangement that currently exists in Labrador.

The 1997-98 academic year is expected to be the final offering of the first-year university program at college sites. In September 1998, the college will implement its expanded transfer year which will provide students with broader access to numerous post-secondary programs at the college and university levels.
