The following is being distributed at the request of Marine Atlantic:

Caribou resumes schedule but weather remains a concern Weather conditions have improved in the Cabot Strait and will enable MV Caribou to resume the published ferry schedule with her departure from Port aux Basques at 4 p.m. Friday.

However, the weather forecast for the weekend indicates further strong winds could be encountered, says gulf service general manager Peter McInnis.

McInnis adds that given the potential for weather disruptions at this time of year, it's always wise for prospective ferry travellers to check in advance on departure times by calling the company's reservation service.

The service can be reached at 1-800-341-7981. Contact: Doug Burgess, Public Relations Officer, (709) 772-5731.
