The coastal passenger/freighter Northern Ranger will begin her 1996 service with a
departure from St. Anthony June 10, ports to Goose Bay, including Rigolet, while the
Ranger's July 1 departure from St. Anthony is scheduled to call at all coastal Labrador
ports to Nain.
The date for northern Labrador freight acceptance will be announced in the near future.
Coastal service general manager John Baker says that in recent years, ice conditions
have consistently delayed the anticipated start-up dates of the coastal service, but ice
conditions this year are very favourable.
"At this point we don't see ice as presenting any impediment for startup, but it's
a situation we monitor daily as our operating season draws near," Baker says.
"We're looking forward to starting our 1996 service as scheduled."
