Contract awarded for Route 500, Trans Labrador Highway

Julie Bettney, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, and Ernest McLean, MHA - Lake Melville, are pleased to announce that a $4,862,850 contract (No. 20-96 THR) has been awarded to Western Construction Co. Ltd. of Stephenville Crossing.

The contract calls for the upgrading of Route 500 Trans Labrador Highway, km 94 to km 112, Popes Hill to Bob's Brook, total distance of 18 kilometres approximately.

This is a joint project between Transport Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador under the Regional Trunk Roads Agreement. Western Construction Co. Ltd. was the lowest of four bidders. This project is to be completed by October 15, 1997.
