Contract to carry out new construction for two sections of Class "C-2" resource road

Chuck Furey, MHA - St.Barbe, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $34,776 contract to carry out new construction for two sections (1 km each) of Class "C- 2" resource road.

Gibbon's Construction Ltd. of Plum Point were awarded the contract to carry out the construction work at Mt. St. Margaret's. The road is needed to provide access to timber stands for production of sawlogs and pulpwood. "As well, said Mr. Furey, "the roads will also allow access for silvicultural work and monitoring of the regeneration of the forest." Mr. Tulk said: "Access to these areas by the forest resource roads around the province is vital to our forest industry."

The project is expected to employ six people. Work will commence around June 10, 1996 and will take approximately seven weeks. The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
