Canada Games hopefuls at Ontario senior championships

Eleven swimmers representing five clubs from around the province leave Thursday for Etobicoke, Ontario, where they will take part in the Ontario Senior Provincial Championships, December 13 to 15. The eleven swimmers had to meet tough standards to qualify for the meet and will face excellent competition as they prepare for next year's Canada Games Trials in May. The swimmers are top age group athletes on the provincial scene and all are potential members for Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador's Canada Games team. They are: Aaron Lee from the Western Whales in Corner Brook, Jonathan Fowler from The Exploits "Y" Otters in Grand Falls-Windsor, Chris Grimes from the Poseidon Swim Club in Carbonear, Erin Blackmore from the Mount Pearl Marlins, and Suzanne Drodge, Laurie Green, Carl Sheppard, Jim Hogan, Robbie Tennent, Rob Berzins, and Daniel Hurley from the St. John's Legends. Accompanying the swimmers to Etobicoke are Canada Games head coach, Steve Fultz, assistant Canada Games coach, Gaylord Kenny and Canada Games manager, Randy Ball.
