1996 Sport Newfoundland and Labrador scholarship program
Bill Burke, chair of the scholarship program, would like to announce that Sport Newfoundland and Labrador is now accepting applications from student-athletes for the 1996 Athletic Scholarship Program.
"Sport Newfoundland and Labrador is very proud of the fact that, although we have experienced major government funding cutbacks, we are still endeavouring to financially support and recognize the achievements of our provincial student-athletes," comments Bill. Burke also adds, "It is nice to receive thank you letters from scholarship recipients thanking Sport Newfoundland and Labrador for helping offset the cost of their education. They are so appreciative which make our efforts very worthwhile and we hope to continue this program for many years to come."
Burke further comments: "The provincial government has discontinued their Student Athlete Assistant grants, so we are anticipating receiving a large number of applications."
Applications are available from Provincial Sport Governing Bodies or Sport Newfoundland and Labrador office at the Provincial Training Centre, Torbay, (709) 576-4932 or fax: (709) 576-7493.
Deadline for receipt of applications is February 28, 1997.
