Final hoop tryouts

The coaching staff of the Ladies 1997 Canada Games Basketball Program will hold an open tryout on December 27 and 28 at the Torbay Recreation Centre in St. John's. The camp will run from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, December 27 and from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 28. The camp is open to all athletes in the province born in 1978 or later. Athletes selected to the team will attend the 1997 Canada Summer Games in Brandon, Manitoba, August 9-16, 1997.

Coaches Glenn Taylor, Mary Taylor and Joe Lake have announced that this will be the final tryout for this program. Head coach, Glenn Taylor announced: "Over the past three years, we have conducted a large number of player identification clinics across the province which were attended by hundreds of athletes, however the time has arrived for the final selection to be made."

Athletes planning to attend the tryout must pre-register with the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association at a cost of $15 per player prior to December 10. Athletes registering after this point will be subjected to a $100 registration fee. To register for the final camp please send your name and address to Canada Games Ladies Program, P.O. Box 21029, St. John's, NF, A1A 5B2 with a $15 cheque made payable to the NLBA.
