Evelly elected to national swimming executive

Ed Evelly of Mount Pearl was elected to the executive of Swimming Canada at their national annual general meeting held over the weekend in Whistler, BC. Evelly, as past president of Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador, joins other executive committee members, president Rob Campbell of Ontario, vice-president and competitions committee chair Bill McFarlane of Alberta, domestic services committee chair, Dave Ritcey of Nova Scotia, and high performance committee chair Jan Harvey of Alberta, as he takes on the role of chair of the combined leadership and community services committees. Evelly, who was first elected to the Swimming Canada board of directors in 1995, had served as Newfoundland and Labrador's provincial representative for several years prior to his election. Evelly said that he was looking forward to a busy year, as planning for the next quadrennial leading into the Olympics in Sydney, Australia in the year 2000 begins.
