There will be an open tryout for the Canada Games Men's Basketball Team on November 9 at the Torbay Recreation Centre in St. John's. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a $10 registration fee will be charged upon arrival. The camp is open to all athletes on the island and in Labrador born in 1978 or later. Athletes selected to the team will attend the 1997 Canada Summer Games scheduled for Brandon, Manitoba, August 9-16.

Coaches Glenn Normore, Clarence Sutton and George Power have announced that this will be the final tryout camp for this program. Head Coach Glenn Normore stated: "This is the final camp of a three year program. We have had hundreds of athletes attend our identification camps over the past three years but the time has come to make the final selection for the '97 Games in Manitoba."
