The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Board of Governors and Selection Committee of The Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame will meet this weekend, September 6 and 7, at the Delta St. John's Hotel and Conference Centre to review all of the nominations that have been submitted and vote on the new inductees for 1996. There are three categories in which a candidate can be inducted:

    1. Athlete
    2. Builder
    3. Athlete/Builder

The constitution allows for a maximum of three athletes and two builders or athlete/builders to be inducted each year. This year's inductees will be added to the elite list of 119.

Gail Roberts, chair would like to acknowledge the support of Labatt Brewery who will once again be the major sponsor for the 24th Annual Induction Dinner being held on Saturday, October 26 at the Delta St. John's Hotel and Conference Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Members of the Board of Governors are: Gail Roberts, chair, St. John's; Dominic Maddox, secretary, Stephenville; Walter Crotty, Labrador; Duey Fitzgerald, St. John's; John McGrath, St. John's; and Bruce Sparkes, Gander. Members of the Selection Committee are: Ed Murphy, chair, St. John's; Tolson Chapman, St. John's; John Browne, St. John's; Roger Howse, Grand Falls/Windsor; Mareli Wells, St. John's and Bruce LeGrow, Stephenville.
