The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association has finalized the rosters for this summers men's and women's junior national basketball teams. Both teams will tour Ontario from June 27 to July 1 as a tune-up for the Canadian Junior National Championships, which are being held in Brandon, Manitoba, July 29 to August 6. Both of these rosters will be reduced to 12 players for the Junior Nationals Program.

The women's coaching staff consists of head coach Glenn Taylor, assistant coach Mary Taylor, and manager Joe Lake. Athletes selected include: Jillian Abbott, Krista Abbott, Erica Coultas, Pam Dewling, Jennifer Gibbons, Vicky King, Lisa MacInnis, Melissa Skanes, Alex Simms and Jennifer Taylor of St. John's; Ann Murrin of Shoe Cove; Joanne McNeil of Trepassey; Kate Flynn of Paradise; Katie Mulcahy of Mount Pearl and Lisa Grant of Kippens.

The men's coaching staff consists of head coach Glenn Normore, assistant coaches Clarence Sutton and George Power. Athletes selected include: Todd Halleran, Robin Pennell and Craig Finlay of Trepassey; Greg Winter, Ryan Michalski, Scott Gibbons and Dion Langdon of St. John's; David O'Keefe of Pouch Cove; Mark Seaborne of Corner Brook; Shane Butland and Scott Furlong of St. Mary's Bay; Shannon Miller of Fogo Island; Richard Brenton of Marystown; Leroy Letto of Cormack; Jeff Merrigan of Port aux Basques and Michael Sooley of Mount Pearl.
Both summer programs are currently being used to identify potential athletes for the 1997 Canada Summer Games to be held in Brandon next summer.
