Results of Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador AA championship


The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador;

Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador held its AA championship at the Regional Aquatic Centre in Stephenville May 24-26. Two provincial records were broken at the meet by the 10 year old Skylar Pike of the Western Whales Swim Team in Corner Brook. Skylar's clocking of 1:23.29 broke the 100m backstroke record of 1:24.00 held by Jonathan Fowler of Grand Falls/Windsor and Skylar's 1:23.96 in the 100m butterfly broke Kris O'Reilly of St.John's nine year old record of 1:24.37.

Western Whales of Corner Brook were team champions with a team score of 293 points closely followed by the St.John's Legends at 291 points. In third place was the poseidon swim club of Carbonear with 258 points. Other team sores included: CBS Bluefins - 214, host team The Aqua Aces - 174, Drakkars of St.Pierre - 165, Exploits "Y" Otters - 121, Melville Mantas of Happy Valley/Goose Bay - 113, Gander Lakers - 86, Mount Pearl Marlins - 78, Northern Lights of Labrador City/Wabush - 48.
