Federation to hold annual general meeting

The following is being distributed at the request of Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

The Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation will be holding its annual general meeting this coming weekend, Saturday, May 25. Delegates from 11 regions and 38 zones throughout Newfoundland and Labrador will meet at the Airport Plaza Hotel in St. John's to set the direction for high school sports in the province. The host schools for the federation's 35 provincial tournaments will also be awarded at this meeting. Kevin Pittman from St. Lawrence will remain as president, finishing out the second year of a two year term along with Joe Devereaux from Gander as vice-president, finance. Positions up for re-election include vice-president administration and vice-president technical.

The annual awards banquet will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting. Winners and runners up for the federation's five major awards as well as the 11 regional recognition awards will be honoured. Awards to be presented include the Coach of the Year Award, Coaching Service Award, Honor Award, Brother G.I. Moore Male and Female Athlete of the Year. The student athlete awards are also sponsored by Newfoundland Power, who provides a $750 scholarship for each winner.
