1996 National Power Tumbling championships held May 6 - 11 Calgary

The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Duane Reid, of Cygnus Gymnastics Club in St. John's, scored eighth in the preliminaries to advance to the final in the 1996 National Power Tumbling Championships which were held May 6 - 11 in Calgary. Reid, 17, advancing to the finals for the second year in a row, came in 10th overall in the final competition. He also competed in the World Age Group Power Tumbling Championships and came in seventh overall, missing a spot on Canada's national team by 0.8 of a point.

Cygnus teammates Beth Suvak and Danielle Snow, who competed with Reid at the Canada Winter Games in Grande Prairie, also represented Newfoundland and Labrador at the national meet. The provincial team is coached by Dave Copeland.
