Sport Newfoundland and Labrador - Minor Pepsi Hoop Championships, May 3 - 4

The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association has over 150 teams registered for this year's "Minor Pepsi Hoop Championships." Three of the 18 tournaments are slated for this weekend, May 3 - 4, in various communities around the island.

G.C. Rowe of Corner Brook will play host to the West Coast Midget (under 15) Boys Provincial with a total of 10 teams participating. Teams entered include St. Jame's of Port aux Basques, Belanger Memorial of Doyles, Stephenville Integrated, Xavier of Deer Lake, F.G. Bursey of Grand Falls-Windsor, Leo Burke Academy from Bishop Falls and Presentation, G.A. Mercer and Holy Rosary of Corner Brook.

Placentia will host the East Coast Juvenile (under 17) Girls Provincial with a total of six teams entered. Teams entered in the event include Stella Maris of Trepassey, St. Lawrence, Baltimore High of Renews, Holy Heart of St. John's, O'Donel of Mount Pearl and the host Placentia.

St. Clare's Carbonear will host the East Coast Intermediate (under 14) Girls Provincial with a total of 10 teams participating. Teams competing in the event include Mobile, St. Lawrence, St. Kevin's of the Goulds, St. Peter's and Mary Queen of the World from Mount Pearl, Roncalli of Avondale and Beaconsfield, St. Teresa's and Ecole St. Patrick of St. John's.
