Minor Pepsi Hoop Championships


The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association have over 150 teams registered for this years Minor Pepsi Hoop Championships. Four of the 18 tournaments are slated for this weekend, April 19 and 20, in various communities around the island.

Goulds will host the first ever East Coast Mini (under 11) boys and girls tournaments with 12 teams registered. Teams entered in the girls event include: Mustangs, St. Peters, St. Kevins, Mavericks, Goulds Elementary, and Placentia Y.B.C. The boys division will consist of St. Mary's, St. Peter's, Mustangs, Mavericks, Goulds Elementary and Placentia Y.B.C.

Trepassey will play host to he East Coast Midget (under 15) Girls Championships with a total of 10 teams registered. Entered in Division A are Stella Maris, O'Donel, St. Lawrence, Macpherson and Mobile. Division B includes Mary Queen of Peace, Roncalli, Beaconsfield, St. Catherines and Fatima Academy of St. Brides.

Stephenville will be the site for the West Coast Bantam (Under 13) girls event which has four teams registered. Teams entered include Stephenville Int., St. Stephen's, Notre Dame of Grand Falls-Windsor and Belanger Memorial of Doyles.

The West Coast Bantam (under 13) boys tournament will be played in Deer Lake with a total of five teams entered; Xavier of Deer Lake, Codroy Valley, Presentation, Humber and G.C. Rowe of Corner Brook.

All tournaments will commence on Friday morning and will conclude Saturday evening.
