Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Volleyball Championships

The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association will be hosting two Pepsi provincial tournaments this weekend. The bantam girls event will be held in Clarenville while the bantam boys event will be held Carmanville and Musgrave Harbour.

The Pepsi bantam girls event will feature 21 teams in four divisions with the top two teams from each division advancing to the playoffs. The tournament will be played in the Clarenville Sports Complex and Balbo Elementary and will get under way at 4:30 p.m. Friday with the playoffs set to begin at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Division A will feature Macpherson Magic, St. John's; St. Marks, Shearstown; Beaconsfield, St. John's; G. C. Rowe, Corner Brook; and Partanna Academy, Grand Bank.

Division B will feature Clarenville Middle School; G. Shaw Collegiate, Summerford; Biships O'Neill, Brigus; Strikers A, Marystown; Presentation 7's, Corner Brook; and Frank Roberts, Foxtrap.

Division C will feature Loopers, Musgrave Harbour; Strikers B, Marystown; Discovery Collegiate, Bonavista; Antony Paddon, Musgravetown, and St. Boniface, Bell Island.

Division D will feature Jane Collins Academy, Hare Bay; SMS Diggers, Shearstown; Trinity Bay Volleyball Club, Catalina; Presentation, Corner Brook; and Pasadena Academy.

The Pepsi Bantam event will feature 12 teams split into two divisions with the top two teams in each division advancing to the playoffs. The tournament will be played at Carmenville School Complex and Gill Memorial School in Musgrave Harbour. It will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the playoffs scheduled to begin 5 p.m. Saturday.

Division A will feature Loopers #1 and Loopers #2 from Carmanville. Windsor Collegiate; Bishop O'Neill, Brigus; CBS Jabers Bulldogs; and Beaconsfield, St. John's.

Division B will feature Loopers Gill Memorial, Musgrave Harbour; Lumsden; LPMH, Wesleyville; Trinity Bay; Catalina; CBS Sabres 7's; and Presentation, Corner Brook.

Pepsi are the provincial sponsors of the Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association minor volleyball and they will be providing all awards for the championships.
