Minor Pepsi provincial volleyball championships, March 28 and 29


The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association will be hosting two minor Pepsi provincial championships this weekend, March 28 and 29. The Juvenile A womens event has seven teams representing five different communities across the island. Teams will be playing at Corner Brook in two venues; Presentation and Regina. The Juvenile B womens event featuring 28 teams representing 22 communities across the island will be held in Grand Falls-Windsor and Botwood at the following venues; Grand Falls Academy, Windsor Collegiate, Windsor Academy, Botwood Collegiate and Memorial Academy.

The Juvenile A womens events features teams in one division competing at Presentation and Regina, they are; Corner Brook Midgets A; Onca, St. John's; Corner Brook Juvenile; Corner Brook Midgets B; Ascension, Bay Roberts; Queen Elizabeth, Foxtrap; and Gander Collegiate. The winning team from this championship will earn the right to represent the province at the Juvenile National Championships in Winnipeg, May 10 to 12.

The Juvenile B womens event has a total of 28 teams, the teams and locations are as follows; Division A competing in Botwood Collegiate are; Botwood Divas I; Smallwood Academy, Gambo; King Academy, Harbour Breton; Holy Cross School, St. Albans; and Strikers Shoppers, Marystown. Division B competing in Memorial Academy in Botwood. Churchill Falls Diggers; Botwood Divas II; Strikers Juvenile B, Marystown; St. Boniface, Bell Island; and Bishop O'Neil, Brigus. Division C competing in Grand Falls Academy; GFA Gryphons; Loopers GMA, Musgrave Harbour; Jackman Jaguars, Trout River; Bishop's College Red, St. John's; Holy Heart Highlanders, St. John's; and Musgravetown Mustangs. Division D competing in Windsor Collegiate are; St. Annes, Conne River; Templeton, Gillams; Loppers, Carmenville; Onca, St. John's; Bishop's College White, St. John's and William Mercer Academy, Dover. Division E competing in Windsor Academy are; Labrador East; LPMH Astros, Wesleyville; Holy Trinity Eagles, Hearts Delight; Strikers Juvenile I, Marystown; Glovertown; and St. Joseph's, Harbour Breton.

Both tournaments will begin on Friday and continue on Saturday. Playoff action will begin at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday. All awards for the Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association minor championships are compliments of Pepsi who are the provincial minor sponsors of volleyball.
