Pepsi junior high provincial volleyball championships

The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association will be hosting its first two minor Pepsi Provincial Championships of the year this weekend, February 9 to 10. The Junior High Male Tournament has 20 teams representing 16 different communities from across the island. Teams will be playing in Conception Bay South at four venues, Queen Elizabeth High School, Frank Roberts Intermediate, Fred Kirby Junior High and St. Georges Elementary. The Junior High Female Provincial Championship, featuring 25 teams representing 19 communities will be held in Bay Roberts at three different schools, Ascension Collegiate, Bishop O'Neill, and All Hallows School.

The Junior High Female event has four divisions, the teams and locations are as follows:

Division A competing in Bishop O'Neill; Bishop O'Neill, Brigus; Presentation 9's Corner Brook; St. Boniface, Bell Island; Roncalli, Avondale; St. James Junior High, Port aux Basques; Paddon Elementary, Musgravetown.

Division B competing in All Hallows, CBS Raptors; G.C. Rowe, Corner Brook; Strikers Shoppers, Marystown; R.K. Gardner, Sunnyside; Lopers, Musgrave Harbour and Discovery Collegiate from Bonavista.

Division C competing in Ascension Collegiate; G.A. Mercer, Corner Brook; St. Mark's, Shearstown; St. Mike's, Grand Falls-Windsor; G. Shaw Collegiate, Summerford; Botwood Divas; Paddon Pirate's 8's, Musgravetown.

Division D also competing at Ascension Collegiate, Frank Roberts Intermediate, CBS; St. Francis Xavier, Deer Lake; Presentation 7's, Corner Brook; Windsor Collegiate; Strikers Wiscombe's, Marystown, MacPherson Magic, St. John's; and St. Peters, Benoits Cove.

The Junior High Male event also has a total of 20 teams the teams and locations are as follows:

Division A competing in Queen Elizabeth High School in Conception Bay South, CBS Bulldogs; R.K. Gardner, Sunnyside; Windsor Collegiate; Glovertown Eagles; St. Peter's, Benoits Cove.

Division B competing in Frank Roberts Intermediate; Bishop O'Neill, Brigus; CBS Sabres, St. Francis Xavier, Deer Lake; Loopers, Musgrave Harbour; and Discovery Collegiate, Bonavista.

Division C competing at Fred Kirby; Mount Pearl Junior High; G.C. Rowe, Corner Brook; Eugene Vaters, St. John's; SMS Diggers, Shearstown; and St. Joseph's Eagles, Harbour Breton.

Division D competing at St. Georges Elementary consists of Beaconsfield Saxons, St. John's; Clarenville; Jane Collins Academy, Dover; Presentation Panthers, Corner Brook; and Catalina.

Both tournaments will begin on Friday afternoon and continue on Saturday, after the round robin is finished playoffs will feature the top two teams in each division in semi-final action with the medal matches to follow directly after the s#emi-finals. All awards for the Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association minor championships are compliments of Pepsi who are the provincial minor sponsors of volleyball.
