Notre Dame Provincial Park to Remain Open Throughout September

Sandra Kelly, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that Notre Dame Provincial Park will remain open until Tuesday, October 1, 1996.

"Throughout the extended season, Notre Dame Provincial Park will continue to provide users with camping facilities, a dumping station, playgrounds, an interpretation chalet, and rental cabins," Ms. Kelly said. "In addition, interpretation staff will extend their environmental activities and school programming until the park's closure in early October."

This is a pilot program being undertaken by the Parks and Natural Areas Division and comes as a result of increased public interest in using the park's services throughout the month of September. An evaluation will be conducted in the fall to determine the feasibility of future extended seasons for Notre Dame Provincial Park.

In addition to Notre Dame, 11 other provincial parks and one ecological reserve will remain open for an extended season this fall.
