New General Manager for Cabot Celebrations

Sandra Kelly, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that Ken Corbett will assume the responsibilities of General Manager for the Cabot 500 Anniversary Celebrations.

"As part of government's recent senior management reorganization, Cabot's former General Manager Mike Buist was appointed Deputy Minister (Acting) for the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation," Ms. Kelly said. "As Manager of Planning and Logistics, Mr. Corbett's knowledge of the project will ensure a constancy and smooth transition for the Celebrations planned for 1997," Ms. Kelly added.

Prior to joining the Cabot Celebrations team in mid-December, Mr. Corbett was Director of Management Information Systems for Fisheries Products International and more recently President of Core Consulting Inc. of St. John's.

"Government has a strong team in place managing the 1997 Celebrations," Ms. Kelly said. "In less than eight months, we will begin showcasing Newfoundland and Labrador to the world. The quality and scope of these celebrations will proudly display our culture, our people, and our landscapes."
