Cabot 500 Celebrations go Online

Roger Grimes, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, announced that the Cabot 500 Celebrations will today launch a Homepage on the World Wide Web.

"This Internet site will provide people around the world with information about Newfoundland and Labrador's 500th anniversary celebrations in 1997," Mr. Grimes said. "We want to tell everyone about Newfoundland and Labrador and its unique tourism product and invite them to celebrate with us the 500th anniversary of John Cabot's landfall in the New World."

The Web site was developed by Newcomm, a division of Paragon Systems. The minister added: "The success of this project can certainly be attributed to Newcomm which offered its guidance and assistance to the project in the design and implementation stages."

Through this site, Internet browsers will also be able to request information on events as well as register to have additional information sent to them directly.

The Cabot 500 Celebrations Homepage can be accessed at //www.cabot500.newcomm.net and e-mail can be sent to cabot500@newcomm.net
