Proclamation of Local Government Awareness Week

Arthur D. Reid, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, will kick off Local Government Awareness Week during a ceremony to be held on Saturday at the Albatross Hotel in Gander starting at 7 p.m.

Mr. Reid, accompanied by Sam Synard, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Municipalities, and Gerard Lewis, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Municipal Administrators, will sign a proclamation to declare the week of April 22 - 28 as Local Government Awareness Week. The ceremony will take place in Salons A, B and C at the Albatross Hotel immediately prior to the annual banquet of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Municipal Administrators.

Local Government Awareness Week is designed to raise the level of awareness, understanding and interest in local government affairs.

The theme for the week is Local Government - At Your Service.
