Opportunities for Newfoundland and Labrador companies in Latin America and the Caribbean

On June 4, 1996, manufacturing and exporting companies across Newfoundland and Labrador who wish to expand their markets to include Latin America and the Caribbean should attend an information session to be held at Hotel Newfoundland.

The seminar will provide organizations with "tips and tools" for succeeding in Latin America and the Caribbean. It will also detail opportunities the regions may present and supply company officials with the information required to successfully enter a new market. Participants of the seminar will have a chance to meet with speakers on a one-on-one basis after the presentations.

"It's important that Newfoundland and Labrador companies have the opportunity to expand. Our companies have proven they're competitive within Canada. Now it's time to expand our horizons and look beyond our borders," says Chuck Furey, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology. "This event is an excellent opportunity for company officials to network with a dynamic group of international business and trade experts."

The speakers for the seminar include: Her Excellency June Clarke, High Commissioner for Barbados; Reid Sirs, Caribbean Business Cooperation Office; Renata Saint-Clair Pimental, Embassy of Brazil; Alan F. Gill, Inter-American Development Bank; Lorne Janes, Newfoundland Manufacturers Association; and Brad Chaulk, EDM Consultants.

The event is organized by the Canadian Exporters Association, in cooperation with the Department of Industry, Trade and Technology, International Trade Centre, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and the Newfoundland Manufacturers Association.

Registration and payments for this event are required in advance. To register, please contact: Keith Warren, International Trade Center at (709) 772-6600.
