NOTE TO EDITORS:

On September 6, Member of Parliament for Gander-Grand Falls, George Baker and provincial Health Minister Lloyd Matthews will officially open the Exploits Memorial Veterans Pavilion at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre in Botwood. The ceremony will commence at 2 p.m.

Also during the event, Honourable Frederick W. Russell, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland, will dedicate a peace garden in remembrance of those who fought for world peace, which will be part of the veterans unit.

The Exploits Memorial Veterans Pavilion is a 14-bed unit for priority access by veterans. The opening of the pavilion represents a further step in the direction to provide veterans with a wider range of facilities in the province where they can receive long-term health care.
