Health minister announces consultants to review health services in central

Health Minister Lloyd Matthews today announced that KPMG Management Consultants has been selected to carry out a review of health services in the central Newfoundland region. The review will commence immediately and a full report is expected to be completed this fall.

"This review will determine what health needs exist throughout the central region and how we can best deliver health programs and services to residents of central Newfoundland," said Mr. Matthews. "I am anxious to see the review carried out and the results reported as quickly as possible."

A review of health services in the region was announced by the minister in June. Mr. Matthews says the review will enable government and health boards in the region to plan and develop a coordinated and comprehensive approach to health service delivery in the context of health reform initiatives.

The steering committee, comprised of representatives from all health boards in the region, as well representatives from government, will oversee the review.

KPMG Management Consultants is a national firm with offices throughout Canada, including St. John's.
