(Forest Resources and Agrifoods)

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, would like to congratulate the 19 students from Newfoundland studying at Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) who received scholarships and bursaries. More than $20,000 in awards were presented at the college's annual Autumn Assembly, Wednesday, October 30.

"The awards offerings at NSAC have grown significantly this year and our deepest gratitude is extended to all donors with the assurance that their generous support is making an important contribution to the future of the agri-food industry," said Dr. Bernie MacDonald, NSAC's interim principal.

"Developments in the agri-foods industry are opening opportunities for graduates," Mr. Tulk stated. He added that there is a demand for new expertise in these areas. The programs of interest at NSAC are aquaculture, agri-business, and environmental agribiology.

Mr. Tulk joins his colleague in Nova Scotia, Guy Brown, the Minister for Agriculture and Marketing, in acknowledging the contribution NSAC is making to quality education and programming in the Atlantic region.

A list of recipients follows.
