Silvicultural contract awarded in Middle Arm Ridge
Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, is pleased to announce the award of a contract for a silvicultural work near Middle Arm Ridge in the Springdale Forest Management District.
A $39,750 contract was awarded to Campbellton Wood Harvesters Ltd. for precommercial thinning of 75 hectares of overstocked young stands.
"This project will control the spacing of an area of young regeneration trees by felling excess growth and by maintaining an even distribution of the remaining crop," stated Mr. Tulk. "This will concentrate growth to increase yield and reduce rotation age."
The project will employ 12 people for eight weeks.
