Silvicultural project awarded in Gander and Terra Nova Districts Sandra Kelly, MHA - Gander, Tom Lush, MHA - Terra Nova and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, are pleased to announce the award of a contract for silvicultural work in these districts. A $84,855.33 contract was awarded to Quest Inc. of Birchy Bay to undertake site preparation work in two locations: Jonathan's Pond near Gander and Riverhead/Triton Brook in the Gambo area. "This work is required to create an environment suitable for planting containerized seedlings," said the minister. "This involves reducing the thickness of duff layer and scarifying the site in order to align the slash overburden in preparation for planting of the seedlings." Three people will be employed for approximately 11 weeks. The project will be under way by mid-September, and will conclude late November 1996. Contact: Anna Buffinga, (709) 729-3750.
