Resource road contract for Exploits District Roger Grimes, MHA - Exploits, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $67,415 contract to carry out new construction of one kilometre of Class "B" resource road at Southern Lake. Critch's Construction Limited of Springdale was awarded the contract to carry out the extension of the existing resource road at Southern Lake. The road is needed to provide access to timber stands for harvesting, followed by a scheduled silvicultural work. "The road will provide access to mature and overmature timber of Crown land for commercial operations in the area," commented Mr.Tulk. "The roads will also allow access for silvicultural work and monitoring of the regeneration of the forest." The project is expected to employ four people. Work will commence around the end of July and will take approximately four weeks. The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods. Contact:
