Road contract for Trinity North District Doug Oldford, MHA - Trinity North, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $34,515 contract to carry out construction of 2.46 kilometres of Class "C" resource road at Gull Pond. Short's Backhoe & Trucking Limited was awarded the contract to carry out the construction of 2.46 kilometre of new road. "This road is required to access old insect filled timber scattered throughout a 200 hectare area," said the minister. "These insect-killed stands are breaking up, and by providing access, this wood can be harvested for domestic use." The area offers good potential for regeneration, and further silvicultural work is planned for the future. The project is expected to employ seven people. Work will commence around early July and will take approximately seven and a half weeks. The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods. Contact:
