Resource road contract for Bonavista North District

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $64,443.73 contract to carry out upgrading of 8.65 kilometres of forest resource road to Class `C' standard.

Rogers Enterprises Limited of Trinity, Bonavista Bay was awarded the contract to carry out the upgrading of 8.65 kilometres in the Indian Bay area. The road is needed to provide access to timber stands for pre-commercial thinning. "Thinning work will reduce competition amongst trees and enhance the growth process." said the minister. "Thinning reduces the rotation cycle and enables the resource to be harvested earlier."

The project is expected to employ four people. Work will commence around the end of July and will take approximately 11 weeks.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
