Resource road project awarded for Bridger's Pond Resource Road, Humber Valley District Rick Woodford, MHA - Humber Valley, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, are pleased to announce the award of a contract for construction and repair of the resource road in the Bridger's Pond area. This improved access will allow future harvest of the resource of both pulpwood and sawlog. "Maintaining this level of access is essential to the viability of both industries," commented Mr. Woodford. The minster added: "Access also allows for more effective monitoring of the forestry resource to ensure that the appropriate level of silvicultural work is undertaken to ensure that healthy regeneration takes place." A $137,799.99 contract was awarded to James P. Gillam Contracting Ltd. of South Branch. The project involves new construction of 0.715 kilometres of resource road to a type "B" standard, and 0.34 kilometres to a type "D" standard. As well, 1.655 kilometres of the existing road will be re-constructed to a type "D" standard. Four people will be employed for approximately nine weeks. The project will be under way in late July, and will conclude late September 1996. Contact: Anna Buffinga, (709) 729-3750.
