Silvicultural project awarded in Labrador West district

Perry Canning, MHA - Labrador West, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the allocation of $8,250 for reforestation work on Elephant Head Road in Labrador West. "This work represents government's continued commitment to enhancing the long term wood supply in western Labrador," commented Mr. Canning.

The contract was awarded to Cedric Payne of Labrador City. This project will involve planting container stock over an area of 33 hectares. The objective is to ensure the long term wood supply in the area.

The project is expected to employ six people for a period of eight weeks. The project will commence in early July and end the first week of September 1996.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
