Road contract for St. Barbe District

Chuck Furey, MHA - St. Barbe, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $27,460 contract to carry out new construction of 1.5 kilometres of Class "C-2" resource road at East Castor Pond.

Canada Bay Construction Company Limited of Roddickton Bay was awarded the contract to carry out new construction on two sections of the existing resource road at East Castor Pond. "The road is needed to provide access to timber stands for sawlog and pulpwood production." said Mr. Furey. "The roads will also allow access for silvicultural work and monitoring of the regeneration of the forest."

The project is expected to employ six people. Work will commence around mid-June and will take approximately six weeks.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
