Silviculture project Trinity North District

Doug Oldford, MHA - Trinity North, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, are pleased to announce the award of a contract to carry out silviculture work in the Trinity North district. "This work represents government's commitment to a sustainable forest," Mr. Oldford said. The minister added: "Stewardship and maintenance of our forests is an investment both in the future of the forest industry and for the people of Trinity North."

A $4,036.50 contract was awarded to Budland Enterprises Limited of Baytona to plant 15 hectares of cutover forest land which has not sufficiently regenerated naturally in the Big Pond area, Bonavista Peninsula. The objective is to bring the area into maximum production. The area is located in the Lethbridge Road area.

The project will employ four people for two weeks. Work is expected to get under way in late June 1996.
