Resource Road contract the Straits/White Bay North

Chris Decker, MHA - Straits/White Bay North, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $43,116.36 contract to carry out new construction of 2.5 kilometres of Class "C-2" resource road in the Straits/White Bay North district.

Gibbon's Construction Ltd. of Plum Point was awarded the contract to carry out the construction work at Ocean Pond. "The road is needed to provide access to timber stands for production of sawlogs and pulpwood." said Mr. Decker. The roads will also allow access for silvicultural work and monitoring of the regeneration of the forest.

"Access to these areas is vital to our forestry industry," said the minister. The project is expected to employ six people. Work will commence around the end of June and will take approximately nine weeks.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
