Site preparation contract for Little Indian Pond resource road, Lewisporte district

Melvin Penney - MHA for Lewisporte and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, are pleased to announce the award of a $38,712 contract for the construction of a 2.5 kilometre resource road.

W. Reid Construction Limited of Bishop's Falls was awarded the contract to construct the Little Indian Pond resource road. "The road will provide access to mature and overmature timber on Crown land for commercial use," said Mr. Penney. Mr. Tulk added: "The area will undergo silvicultural work after the area has been harvested. This is in line with the department's objective to maintain the integrity of the forest ecosystem."

The project will get underway by late June, 1996 (approximately), and will involve seven weeks of activity. It will employ six individuals.
