Contract to construct resource road at Chouse Brook

Rick Woodford - MHA for Humber Valley, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $42,446.24 contract to carry out work required to construct 1.6 kilometres of new resource road at Chouse Brook.

Critch's Construction Ltd. of Springdale were awarded the contract to carry out the work to construct 1.6 kilometres of Class B resource road. The road is needed to provide access for sawlog and pulpwood production for commercial operators in the Hampden area. "Provision of resource roads to access timber is a valuable service to the commercial forest industry," said Mr. Woodford. Mr. Tulk added: "These roads also provide access for future silvicultural work to ensure the longterm management of our valuable forest resource."

The project is expected to employ six people. Work will commence early June and will take approximately nine weeks.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
