Silviculture project in the St. George's District to employ 12 people Kevin Aylward, MHA - St. Georges, and Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, are pleased to announce the award of a contract to carry out silviculture work in the St. George's electoral district. "This work represents government's commitment to a sustainable forest," Mr. Alyward said. " Stewardship and maintenance of our forests is an investment both in the future of the forest industry and for the people of this area." A $14,875.00 contract was awarded to Cator Best and Gerald Combden for planting of a 70 hectare prepared area with the objective of bringing the area into maximum production. The area is located on Mine Road near St. George's, and will be planted with approximately 175,000 White Spruce container seedlings. The project will employ 12 people for about five weeks.
