Contract to construct an extenion to the resource road at Triton Brook

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $28,275 contract to carry out work required to construct an extension to the existing Triton Brook resource road in the Terra Nova District.

Cox's Construction Limited of Lawn, Placentia Bay, was awarded the contract to carry out the work to construct two kilometres of Class C-2 resource road which will be an extension of the existing road. The road is needed to provide access to overmature black spruce timber in the Triton Brook area. "Provision of resource roads to access mature and overmature timber is a valuable service to the commercial forest industry" says Mr. Tulk. "These roads also provide access for future silvicultural work to ensure the longterm management of our valuable forest resource."

The project is expected to employ four people. Work will commence at the end of May and will take approximately eight weeks.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
