Contract to carry out a resource road construction project at Northwest Pond in Terra Nova district

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a contract to carry out a resource road construction project at Northwest Pond in the Terra Nova district. This road will be an extension of an existing resource road.

The $29,999 contract was awarded to Short's Backhoe Service of Deep Bight, to carry out the construction of two kilometers of resource road. "The road is needed to provide access for current and future scheduled integrated commercial harvesting," said the minister. "It will also allow future access for silviculture treatments, monitioring and forest protection activities in the Northwest Pond area."

Work will commence May 26 approximately, and will last for five weeks. The project is expected to employ seven people.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
