Contract work for Bloomfield resource road

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a $17,900 contract to carry out work required to reconstruct 4.4 kilometers of the Bloomfield resource road to Class `C-2' resource road standard.

Pennellco Ltd. of Plate Cove West was awarded the contract to carry out the work to upgrade the road which is in very poor condition. The road is needed to provide continued access into the area for current and future scheduled integrated and selective commercial and domestic needs. It must be of sufficient standard for tractor trailer use. The roads will also allow access for silvicultural work and monitoring of the regeneration of the forest. "Upkeep of resource roads around the province is vital to our forestry industry," said the minister.

The project is expected to employ five people. Work will commence in late May and will take approximately seven weeks.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods. Contact:
