Contract to carry out a resource road construction project Weir's Pond in Bonavista North district

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today the award of a contract to carry out a resource road construction project at Weir's Pond in the Bonavista North district.

The $32,558.34 contract was awarded to Ryan's Contracting Limited of Trespassey to carry out the construction of two kilometres of resource road. "The road is needed to provide access for the harvesting of overmature black spruce timber," said the minister. "It will also facilitate follow up silviculture treatment of the forest resource in the Weir's Pond area."

Work will commence May 27 and last for approximately seven weeks. The project is expected to employ four people.

The project is fully funded by the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods.
