Premier Tobin offers condolences to the family of the late E. John A. Harnum

Premier Brian Tobin offered condolences to the family of the late the Hon. E. John A. Harnum, who died in St. John's today. Mr Harnum served as the Lieutenant-Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador from 1969 to 1974.

"John Harnum served the people of this province with great dignity both in his private life and as lieutenant-governor. He was a prominent member of the business community for over 50 years and he was also very active in a number of service and charitable organizations including St. John Ambulance and the Newfoundland Board of Insurance Underwriters.

"On behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, I extend deepest sympathies to Mr. Harnum's family. Newfoundlanders and Labradorians join with you in mourning his loss. We will remember his strength and the contribution he made to many aspects of life in our province."
