to be in Grand Falls-Windsor this weekend for 1996 McLoughlan Shooting
Competition Reservists from across Newfoundland will be in Grand Falls-Windsor this weekend for the 1996 McLoughlan Shooting Competition. Matches take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., February 17 and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., February 18 at the indoor range of the Grand Falls Armoury. Teams representing First and Second Battalion, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, 56 Field Engineer Squadron, 36 Service Battalion, HMCS Cabot and 728 Communications Squadron will compete for top team, top shot and top tyro honours using the FNCI rifle with .22 calibre insert. Winners will be eligible for the Newfoundland District Small Arms Competition held in April and then for the Atlantic regional competition in October. The McLouglin Perpetual Trophy was first presented in 1952 by Dr. James P. McLoughlan, later honourary Lieutenant Colonel of First Battalion, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.
