Robert Jenkins appointed deputy minister of Education and Training

Premier Clyde Wells today announced the appointment of Robert Jenkins as deputy minister of the Department of Education and Training. Mr. Jenkins' appointment is effective immediately. He replaces Dr. Len Williams who retired on December 31, 1995.

Mr. Jenkins served as Clerk of the Executive Council prior to this latest appointment. He has held several senior executive positions throughout government including that of deputy minister of the Department of Tourism and Culture; deputy minister of the Department of Consumer Affairs and Communications and deputy minister of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Youth.

In announcing the appointment Premier Wells said: "Mr. Jenkins has served the province well over the years and his appointment as deputy minister in the Department of Education and Training is a recognition of his commitment to the people of the province. I am confident he will undertake this new responsibility with the same dedication he has applied over the years to all of the positions he has held."
