Environmental assessment bulletin Environment and Labour Minister Kevin Aylward has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies can be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date following each item. NEW UNDERTAKING REGISTERED
The proponent proposes to extend an existing Christmas tree farm by developing existing balsam fir stands and planting new seedlings as necessary. The proposed site is in Markland approximately five miles from the Whitbourne main highway. Site development is scheduled for the fall of this year. The proposal was registered on July 22, 1996 and the deadline for receipt of comments is August 26, 1996. REGISTRATION DECISION PENDING
The minister plans to announce a decision within 10 days on whether an environmental impact statement is required on the proposed project which was originally registered on March 29, 1995. FISH AND FISH HABITAT COMPONENT STUDY RE-SUBMITTED
The proponent has submitted a revised component study on Fish and Fish Habitat to address additional information required for preparation of the environmental impact statement. The public has until August 26, 1996 to make their comments known to the minister. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT SUBMITTED
The proponent has submitted the environmental impact statement for review which is intended to predict and evaluate the environmental impacts of the undertaking.
