June 1996 senior high school
results. The Minister of Education, Roger D. Grimes, today released final results for students in senior high school during the 1995-96 school year. This year, approximately 31,000 students were enrolled in the first, second, and third years of the senior high school program. These students completed a total of 240,524 course evaluations, achieving an overall pass rate on these courses of 91 per cent. Of these course evaluations, 239,647 were done by the schools, while 877 were done through the administration of public examinations to private candidates and others needing to take supplementaries. There were 6,777 of the candidates in their final year who met graduation requirements. Of these, 1,869 graduated with honours and 701 graduated with distinction. Official transcripts are being mailed today to individual students, and summaries of the overall results are being forwarded to schools and school boards.
